Is The MCU In Shambles?

During SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) it was announced that RDJ was returning to the MCU as Doom. While, some may be excited about this I have very mixed emotions. RDJ is a phenomenal actor and I have no doubt that he can pull it off. However, I think this is a desperate move to get fans back on the MCU train by not only bringing back an original Avengers actor, but also bringing back the Russo Brothers to direct two of the Avengers film. It makes sense as they directed some great films for the franchise.

One problem I have with RDJ returning as Doom is that in the comics Doom is Romanian and his race plays a huge factor into his character. Doom has experienced a lot of racism and I feel that needs to be showcased on the big screen. While, the Kang arc didn't go off as planned, I still would've liked to see a conclusion. Despite, your thoughts on Majors I think that they should've recasted the character of Kang.

There is one major question fans have been asking for years: is the MCU in shambles? Yes and no. While, I do think that they've had a few solid projects post Endgame, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, Wandavision & Guardians Vol. 3. The problem is not only the lack of direction, but also the excessive fan service and poor writing.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy cameos as much as the next fan. However, if that's the only thing that's interesting about your movie then I'm not really a fan. Excessive cameos doesn't save a film from bad CGI, poor writing and lack luster action sequences. The last MCU project I've seen is Guardians Vol. 3. That was the best project since Spider-Man: No Way Home and I was emotionally and physically drained after that film.

Another problem I have is that a lot of the TV shows don't connect with the current films. A lot of the MCU shows on Disney+ are completely different writers from the film and that's where the confusion comes in. Some of these writers haven't written for film before and you get a lot of frustration in the MCU community when it comes to certain story narratives in the film. I'll close it with this: I've been following the MCU since 2008 and maybe they just need a hard reboot or just better writing overall.
